Srinagar, Feb 27 (KNO): Continuous rainfall and fresh snowfall across various parts of Kashmir have led to severe waterlogging and landslides, causing significant difficulties for residents. Authorities have issued helpline numbers to address emergencies.
According to details provided by the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), heavy rains have caused waterlogging in several areas, including Baramulla, Sopore, Handwara, and Bandipora. Landslides were reported in Boniyar and Delina in Baramulla district.
In Boniyar, two residential houses were damaged due to a landslide. However, the affected families were promptly evacuated to safer locations, ensuring their safety. Residents of the affected areas have urged the administration to take preventive measures to avoid such incidents in the future.
Similarly, residents in Sopore, Baramulla, and Handwara expressed frustration over severe waterlogging, which disrupted daily life. In response, authorities initiated dewatering efforts in the affected localities.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Sopore, S.A. Raina, visited the impacted areas within the subdivision and directed officials to expedite the dewatering process. He also instructed them to take immediate remedial measures, stating that if necessary, roads could be temporarily cut to facilitate water drainage and provide relief to the public.
In light of the ongoing inclement weather, the administration has issued emergency helpline numbers for the public to ensure prompt assistance in case of further distress.
